The Columbia 30’s First Regatta: 2005 Newport Harbor Yacht Club Ahmanson Series. 2nd Day, 1st Race: 1st in Class and First to Finish |
The Columbia 30 is a different kind of performance boat. Its yacht quality finish and detail, advanced innovative design, precise engineering, fine materials and industry-leading construction techniques stand it apart from all other sport boats. That's why we call it a Sport Yacht™. Visit a regatta with a Columbia 30 and you'll see for yourself – her refinement and quality is visible even at the dock. When sailing, the 30 can outpoint and outfoot the competition, including stripped out, single purpose racers. Her offshore features give her versatility absent from daysailers and buoy racers, while simple but elegant cruising amenities and an easy-to-manage yet powerful sailplan mean that family cruising includes comfort and safety as well as truly exciting sailing.
In her first few months of racing, the Columbia 30 has had numerous first place finishes against many good competitors (J105's, J109's, Olson 30's, Mumm 30's, B-32's, Henderson 30's, Cheetah 30, etc.). On several occasions, the 30 was first or second to the weather mark, averaging between six to seven knots in about 16 knots of true wind on the upwind leg. Upon rounding the pin and setting the chute, the 30 scooted off at 13 to 14 knots.

| Columbia 30 Single-Point/Yacht Club Lift (with keel in raised position) |
A fully retractable keel (bringing draft from 7 feet to 2'8”), makes trailering and dry-sailing the Columbia 30 a breeze. Ramp launching and retrieval is simple, and raising the mast requires only a custom factory bridle and the boat's winches.
The Columbia 30 is no one-trick pony. Go racing…and win, even against flat-out single purpose racers. Then, entertain family and friends in the spacious cockpit and comfortable cabin. Take them on weekend cruises - enjoy the standing headroom, four 8-foot berths, fully enclosed proper marine head, galley amenities and spacious dual-use cockpit with ergonomic bench-seating. To get a better idea of how all of these elements come together to become what we feel is the finest sport yacht available today – anywhere – please take some time reading about the elements that set the Columbia apart.
