Columbia 32 hit 26 kts between San Francisco and Hawaii... and won its class in the 2010 Pacific Cup
The all-new C-32 will be even faster...
Upgraded and optimized for offshore racing -
the "C" is for all-carbon construction:
- Completely new deck design for off-shore racing
- Fixed carbon bow sprit for durability and simplicity
- Optimized rudder design
- Higher ballast to displacement ratio giving 27% more righting moment
- Lifting keel for trailering
- Refined and simplified interior to reduce weight
- Optimized sailplan for maximum power

Stiffer - Lighter - Faster!!!
The new carbon-fiber vacuum resin infused hull/deck of the C-32 is stiffer overall, transferring power from the sails more efficiently to boat speed. It's also much lighter; only 3500lbs ready to race! The boat will plane more easily and stay on that plane longer - which effectively means cutting hours off a race from Los Angeles to Hawaii!
The new ergonomically-designed deck layout brings everything close to hand and enhances safety, and along with a simplified interior and increased righting moment allows for fewer race crew: 3-4 sailors can easily handle the boat in point to point racing. This further lightens the boat, increasing speed potential. Equally for long distance races you'll have less body weight, less food and supplies, less gear... (maybe less sleep too, but that's racing!)
Auxiliary power options include a unique all-electric 24 volt unit which can be coupled with an on-board generator. Not only is this system lighter than diesel, but the generator can be easily removed for day-use or inshore regattas to keep the boat even livelier.
We are offering the first three boats off the assembly line for $99,000 each. At this price, a new, All-Carbon C-32, equipped for off-shore racing with sails and electronics, could be campaigned for the 2011 Transpac and shipped home back from Hawaii to California for around $150,000!! What's more, the C-32 would be a serious contender with a real chance to trophy or win!!!
Race with the Big Boys, at a fraction of the price, and steal their thunder!!!
